Meet the JCF Consulting Team

Justin C. Floyd, Founder & Managing Principal

As the principle leader of JCF Consulting, Justin provides executive management, finance, and business development services to a variety of clients including regional and national real estate developers, high-tech companies, and private equity, institutional and angel capital firms.

With over 13 years of experience, Justin is a motivated leader with excellent negotiation, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.  Justin's proven strengths in financial modeling, financial analysis, capital sourcing, and business planning has served many clients in both high-tech and real estate.  Justin has provided hands-on mergers and acquisition advisory services to Cisco Systems, Inc. where he has assisted the business development, finance, and tax teams in negotiating asset and stock deals, identifying and addressing diligence and valuation issues, tax structuring and planning, and the integration of target acquisitions through complex reorganizations and business planning.  Advisory services have directly supported more than 20 Cisco acquisitions valued at over $500 million.  In addition, Justin has provided post-acquisition integration advisory services to Cisco Systems, Inc. supporting over 25 prior mergers and acquisitions.   Also, through JCF's strategic partnership with Atlantic Development Partners, LLC, Justin provides ongoing deal structuring, financing, and capital sourcing services for various residential and commercial real estate projects.

Justin's professional tenure demonstrates proven strengths in finance as well as operational experience as a seasoned entrepreneur - where he cofounded and was president of eDigital Entertainment -  an emerging online gaming company.  For clients, Justin brings an in-depth awareness of the capital raising and funding process throughout the various stages of a company's lifecycle.

Prior to consulting, Justin's corporate background includes senior management roles at Stonefield Josephson, Inc., mergers and acquisitions management position at KPMG LLP, and various other management roles at Deloitte & Touche LLP and Ernst & Young LLP.  Justin matriculated at University of Delaware where he received his degree in Accounting in 1994, continuing on to complete his Certified Public Accounting (CPA) certification through the State of Maryland in 1995.

Lawrence Pelzner, Pelzner & Associates, Principal & Advisor

As a youth and San Francisco native, Larry matriculated through the local public school system, graduating from the University of San Francisco with an accounting degree.

Larry is the founding and senior partner in the public accounting firm of Pelzner and Associates, which he established back in 1970.  His firm specializes in tax, accounting, IRS representations, and business planning.  For many years, Larry has held a member position of the Board of Trustees of the San Mateo Horsemen's Association.  Being an owner and trainer of his two Arabian horses, he is an active equestrian participating and supporting several Northern California horse shows.

Brent Lawrence, Legal Counsel and M&A Advisor

Brent is the President of BLV and provides legal services to JCF and its clients as well as mergers and acquisition advisory services.  In his career, Brent has worked on over 100 business and real estate acquisitions.  He is a licensed attorney and real estate broker in the State of California and has an MBA in Finance.  Brent is also a founder, director, and officer of Community 1st Bank.

Prior to founding BLV, Brent served as the Managing Attorney of Business Law Ventures, P.C. which he started in 1998 after working for the international law firm of Graham & James.  At G&J, Brent assisted Level One Communications in consummating a $115 Million convertible note offering (prior to Intel's acquisition of Level One for $2.2B).  He also assisted the G&J San Francisco office in completing a $10B debt restructuring for Rykoff-Section, one of the world's largest conglomerates.  Prior to G&J, Brent helped take Host Funding, Inc., a REIT, to a successful IPO.

Brent grew up in San Diego and played basketball at U.C. Riverside.

John Hartman, Advisor

John Hartman has over 20 years of real estate finance experience. He is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Restoration Capital Partners, institutional marketing, and financial structuring of each development project.

Prior to Restoration Capital, he co-founded Dunmore Capital creating the first institutional private equity fund focused solely on land entitlement where he raised commitments of $100 million from major public pension funds, secured lead investor, negotiated all fund terms, and established the business model, compliance procedures, and investor reporting procedures. Before joining Dunmore Capital, Mr. Hartman was President and CEO of Silverado Financial (SLVO), a publicly traded real estate finance company. He served as Managing Director of Hartman-Kauffman, a high-net worth investment advisory firm that was acquired by Next Advisors, a family office advisory company, where Mr. Hartman continued to serve as President. He worked for Morgan Stanley for six years and prior to Morgan Stanley was Managing Partner for Realty Capital Partners, a California land developer. He also worked as an Investment Broker for Grubb & Ellis, Land Division and was the youngest member of the land council.

Mr. Hartman earned his MBA from California Coast University in Santa Ana, and his Bachelors degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University. He is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association (PREA), and is an Advisory Board Member for the Brownfields Foundation.

Han Chiu, Advisor

Dr. Chiu has over 20 years of experience in the life sciences industry as an entrepreneur, researcher, and venture investor. Prior to launching his new venture - Vavici, Dr. Chiu was a founder and managing partner of CMX Capital and its predecessor Novel Bioventures Advisors, where he served as Managing Director. He was a Venture Partner at Forward Ventures, where he sourced and evaluated numerous private equity investments and served as either Director or board observer for MedicineNet, Genicon Sciences, Arizeke, and Nereus Biosciences. Dr. Chiu has both clinical development and marketing experience with several pharmaceuticals from two major pharmaceutical companies, Schering-Plough and Novartis. He was part of the founding oncology team for Novartis Oncology and led the effort to put together the Oncology team's first sales force and product launch. He has launched products both domestically and internationally including Caelyx/Doxil, a product for treatment of AIDS-related Kaposi's Sarcoma and other solid tumors; and Sandostatin, a Novartis product for the treatment of Acromegaly and GEP tumors.

At Novel Bioventures, Dr. Chiu built the investment team that invested in seven companies in less than two years, including such companies as Cellerant, Transmedics, Predix, ARYx, Omeros, Capnia, and Intrabiotics. In addition, Dr. Chiu worked with the investment team to invest in a variety of venture and hedge funds including some of the top life science funds in the business. Dr. Chiu also founded Atria, an ehealth company, over saw its merger with Scibernet and served as its CEO from inception.

Dr. Chiu holds an M.D. from the Stanford University School of Medicine and an M.B.A. from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He received his B.A. in Biochemistry from Cornell and is a member of the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
